Arts & Crafts
People
who love arts and crafts have been enjoying the Apple Festival in
Hickory for many years. Our first year, we had only one craft demonstrator:
one man whittling exquisitely detailed miniature wooden workboots
with laces for a modest crowd. This year, many thousands of people
will be at the festival, enjoying more than 100 tables of arts and
crafts displays. A large number of craftmakers will also demonstrate
how they make their items, and the effort, time, and skill that
go into their work.

Quilting demonstrations and finished quilts bring one of America's
finest crafts to life at the Apple Festival. Above is a quilt
in progress. Below are pattern ideas for future projects.

Unique
handmade baskets make sensational presents for a friend, relative,
or for yourself! The creators of these beautiful and functional
baskets demonstrate how it's done, too.

Handmade
quilts, dried flower arrangements and wreaths, wooden toys and furniture,
ceramics, angel decorations, leather items, stained glass, seasonal
items, jewelry, brooms, wire items, decorated miniature hay bales,
hand-woven baskets and rugs, homemade candles and soaps, handwrought
iron items made by a blacksmith, metal sculpture, handspun and woven
items, and hand-painted wooden items
(tole painting) are among the many arts and crafts that will be
on display. |
